A cleansing week in which you can do a half-fast (eating very small quantities). This is combined with the intake of special drinks, suited to everyone’s individual condition. It’s an exercise to learn to listen to the Life force. The cleansing happens on different levels: physical, emotional and spiritual. 
If you do not want to fast, you still will join in the ‘special drinks’, so even then it’s a cleansing week!
Sometimes people who have given you advice on your diet can be mistaken, or your advice to others can be wrong. We have to listen to our life force. This is the essence of yoga. 
Koji Kunikiyo, after guiding hundreds of people, developed an unique system force of ‘listening to your body, your lifeforce.This is yoga. He possesses vast knowledge about food.. Even those who have already a good understanding about food, are impressed by getting unclear issues clarified. Through this week’s experience we’ll realize that we can be active and feel good with less quantity of food.  It’s important not to eat  more than needed.

If you want to do the half-fasting, you are required to stay from the beginning till the end.

3 WEEKENDS met Mizue Tamaki 
Mizue Tamaki has been teaching Okido Yoga in Europe for more than 35 years.
She prefers to work with small groups, so she can give personal attention ito everyone.
She travelled with master Oki as his translater in many countries and is now busy translating his books.
She translated B.K.S. Iyengar’s “Light on Yoga” and “Light on Pranayama” into Japanese.
She is responsible for the residential Okido Yoga dojo in Laren (Gld) and for the Teachers’ Training. 
Studying from Noëlle Perez - founder of the ‘Institute Superieur d’aplomb’
- since 1979, 
helped her to better understand one of the aspects of Masahiro Oki’s teaching of the Natural Body and so increase the effects of asana’s and various exercises. 
To regain the natural angle of the pelvis is an essential difference with most physical training and teachings in yoga schools.


Meditation

How to sit well is important, as it influences the function of the nervous system and the organs. A lot of people who practize meditation, think they have the right sitting posture, but sometimes they develop a scoliosis or a fat tummy. From long experience, Mizue will let you feel the subtle difference between ‘a good posture’ and a ‘nearly good posture’.
Many people declared, that thanks to Mizue’s instruction, they can sit much longer, without getting back pain.
For some it’s also a good preparation if 
they plan to do a long session Vipassana or Zen mediation.

SEMINAR with 
OSAMU TATSUMURA

Osamu Tatsumura is one of the few Japanese senior students who were educated directly by Masahiro Oki.
Oki-do yoga is often considered as a form of yoga which consists of only dynamic exercises, but this isn’t the case at all! Yoga is a holistic search of various aspects like Yama, Nyama, Asana.... till Prasad.

For this seminar we have choosen the subjects: Asana, Pranayama en Dharana.
Asana in the form of DoZen (‘do’ means movement). Pranayama is not only part of classical yoga, but is also applied in daily life. Dharana means concentration.
Of course Oki-do yoga has to be modified to everyone’s individual needs, but not in the sense of ‘every variation is acceptable’.

We will refer to the original source material, published during the life of Masahiro Oki, like Practical Yoga and Practical Meditation (no English translation available) and specifically with regards to the subjects mentioned above.
Mizue Tamaki applies the same principle in her seminar of January referring to Zen Meditation Therapy  and Ronald Boin to the Kyoka-ho book in his seminar in April.

Elbows, Chest & Head

The elbows are important for opening the chest. Exercises from the book ‘Zen yoga Therapy’ by Masahiro Oki on ‘a heavy head’. These exercises are very effective, if done properly.

Even when students can perform asana’s really well, sometimes there’re areas left which are stiff and where as a teacher, you don’t really know what to do. 
If certain relation points are stimulated by means of shiatsu, it can have a very good result. The shiatsu therapist can also give specific exercises which can be used at home.

Hatsuko Kanazawa was born in a family of masseurs. She studied some years with Master Oki, after she finished her study in acupuncture and shiatsu. She also studied in China. She has been given shiatsu treatments for more than 3o years.
This is a specially useful seminar for yoga teachers. Not only for yourself, but also for your students.


Kyoka-ho
strengthen your lifeforce!

This weekend we will work  with Hara exercises and training to strengthen your lifeforce. By actively participating you will find in a natural way the basic principles of proper posture, movement, breathing  and mental concentration. You will learn to keep your point of gravity low, so you can be in balance in every situation. On a mental level, a strong hara allows you to meet all challenges in daily life with a stable mind. We’ll show you how to integrate kyoka-ho in your daily lofe.

MAY retreat - detox through diet, yoga & work

We will apply the same principles as in the Easter retreat, but less strict than half-fasting and with drinks that are more easily available in our surroundings. We’ll work 3 hours every day in the garden if the weather permits it. We have found out that,  besides the various daily yoga exercises, the compresses etc. this also helps the detoxing process.

Mizue and Hatsuko will teach - together with other staffmembers - every day.
Mizue specificly about how to use the body in Asana and in daily life.
This sounds as if that is purely bodywork, but the emotional and philosophical aspects are inextricably linkt.
Hatsuko’s lessons, shiatsu, relation points and corrective exercises, melt together in a harmonious way.

A Long weekend for women

We stopped the annual women-week, but still like to spend some time with just women. A weekend is a bit short, so we added a day... Exercises, compresses and the sharing of experiences and ideas.

Tomoko Mori trained in the 80-ties under Masahiro Oki and was sent to England. She is responsible for Oki-do England; teaches and organizes an annual autumn retreat in Suffolk. She raised 4 children.
